JAMIE MILLER: The filing of bankruptcy can be a very complicated process and there's tons of options that people have when they come to our office. And we view our responsibility is, as lawyers, to give our clients all the options, to put it out on the table and make sure that they understand what their options are. I never like to be in a situation where I feel I have to tell a client what to do. I feel more comfortable putting the options out there and letting the client decide what's best for them.

I've been practicing bankruptcy law since 1993. The reason I became a bankruptcy lawyer is after finishing college, I moved back to Canton, Ohio to go into a family business and that family business ended up having to file bankruptcy. So I found myself involved in the bankruptcy court and in the bankruptcy system. And it was that exposure to the system that led me to have the desire to go into bankruptcy law.

When someone makes the decision to file bankruptcy, it's very difficult to make that call. And unfortunately, there's a lot of law firms in town that treat people like they're a number. At Miller and Miller, it's our goal to make sure that we treat people like people. We treat them with respect; we treat them with dignity and we want to make sure that they feel comfortable with our office and feel comfortable with the process.
