Are Americans over 75 running out of money?

Many Americans worked all of their lives to not only stay up on their current bills but also put away savings for retirement. Unfortunately, though, a large number of this population has entered retirement age only to run out of money, or has had to put off retirement because they simply did not have enough saved.

What your credit cards say about your financial standing (2 of 2)

Welcome back. We are currently discussing questions to ask yourself in effort to determine if your credit card spending could be leading you to financial ruin. The first questions can be found in part 1, and the third question to ask yourself is:

What your credit cards say about your financial standing (1 of 2)

In this day in age, credit cards are convenient as well as easy to obtain. But just because you qualify for multiple credit cards and high credit lines doesn’t mean you should use them. In fact, one of the biggest reasons Americans file for bankruptcy is because of credit card debt that spun out of control.

GET YOUR HOME READY FOR FALL & SAVE MONEY TOO!

With the approach of cooler weather and colder temps, it's smart to do home repairs and maintenance in the fall. In addition to staving off the costs of expensive repairs and remodels, a little effort can help you save money on heating too!

Seventh Circuit: Claims against payday loan provider can continue

Recently, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, which includes the states of Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana, overturned a lower court’s ruling when it decided to allow a class action lawsuit against an online payday loans provider to continue.

What are payday loans?

Living paycheck to paycheck means that an unexpected expense could make it difficult to pay rent, car payments or minimum credit card payments. And we all know that failing to pay these bills has serious consequences such as eviction, auto repossession and declined credit cards. That’s why this desperate situation causes many people to turn to payday loans for help.

Millions of Americans dealing with debt collectors

After you have missed several payments on a credit card balance or another outstanding debt, the creditor might decide to turn the debt over to a third-party collection agency or debt collector. Creditors do this because it is often more lucrative for them to have a debt collector attempt to collect the money than to try to do it themselves.

Dealing with the emotional side of bankruptcy

There is no doubt that deciding to file for bankruptcy protection is a major life event, whether it is a business bankruptcy or a personal bankruptcy. That's why the process has emotional and personal consequences as well as financial ones.

Ways to Outsmart Your Supermarket

Sticking to a grocery budget is something that many people struggle with on a regular basis.   When in the store, it's easy to impulsively buying things they don't need.  Shoppers may be drawn to get those items that are "new & improved" or are a great deal (if you buy 10 of them).   Don't fall for the supermarket tricks and go in prepared with some basic shopping tips.

Overwhelmed by unpaid taxes? We can help

For many Wisconsin residents, income taxes are a major source of stress. This is especially true for people who cannot afford to pay the money that they owe. Year after year, back taxes continue to add up, resulting in significant debt and other penalties.
