The numbers are in! The Eastern District of Wisconsin (which encompasses Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, Kenosha, Walworth, Washington, and Ozaukee counties) had a total of 19,111 new bankruptcy cases filed in 2011. This is a drop of 1,392 cases from the 20,503 new cases filed in 2010. While we didn’t drop back to the numbers of 2009 (18,559 new cases filed), we did see a significant decrease. Is this a sign that the economy is finally rebounding and brighter days are ahead? The numbers seems to suggest that we might just be headed that way!
