Wisconsin dropouts amass high student loan debt

| Jan 25, 2014 | Uncategorized

Deciding to pursue a higher education is usually met with the knowledge that some debt is going to be necessary. There are some instances in which that debt coupled with other debts just becomes too much to handle. For some Wisconsin students, finding out that online education isn’t the right choice for them is leading to some serious financial consequences.

A recent survey collected data of for-profit and online schools that allow Wisconsin students to enroll. The dropout rate averaged 28 percent for the 185 schools surveyed. In 2013, 20 schools reported losing more than 40 percent of their students in the first year. Of those, 16 were for-profit online schools based out of state.
